QUEENS NYC – LIBERTY AVE

Liberty Avenue is an 8-mile (13 km) long west-east avenue in Brooklyn and Queens, New York City. It is bidirectional for most of its length, running between Mother Gaston Boulevard in Brooklyn in the west and Farmers Boulevard in Queens in the east. Liberty Avenue is known as “Little India Guyana-Trinidad and Tobago” because it mostly includes Indian, Indo-Guyanese, Indo-Trinidadian and Tobagonian, and Indo-Caribbean cultures and people there.

Queens is an extremely ethnically-diverse borough. The people who call Queens home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. People of Hispanic or Latino origin are the most prevalent group in Queens, accounting for 28.04% of the borough’s residents (people of Hispanic or Latino origin can be of any race). The greatest number of Queens residents report their race to be Asian, followed by White. Important ancestries of people in Queens include Italian, Irish, Guyanese, Jamaican, and Polish.

In addition, Queens has a lot of people living here who were born outside of the US (47.24%). The most common language spoken in Queens is English. Other important languages spoken here include Spanish and Chinese.

HOW TO GET HERE

From Manhattan, head to either the 42nd Street Port Authority subway stop or the 34th Street Penn Station subway stop, and take the A train to its final stop: Ozone Park — Lefferts Boulevard. Exit onto Liberty Avenue.
